THEY’RE NOT EVEN TRYING TO HIDE IT
You might as well wave a banner that says “Sponsored by the U.S. State Department” at this point come on man they’re literally reusing tactics from 1989

Every time someone told me that Texas was gonna go blue this year I thought about that video from McAllen of that middle aged Texan Latino store owner wielding a chainsaw and screaming the n-word
There's this weird assumption among white liberals that Texas is a blue state in waiting bc of its high Latino population, but that's not how it works! Latinos aren't a monolith, and it's really not that hard to find non-white conservatives in Texas.
I think some people are also assuming that this is about more Latinos in states like Florida or Texas becoming and identifying as white but I don't think that tells the full story, I've met Latino Trumps supporters who are very clearly not white, plus some Arabs and East Asians.

You know the anti-communists in Guatemala were the one slaughtering indigenous Maya villagers, right ? They're still finding mass graves to this day
Same goes for El Salvador, it was the anti-communist forces (army + paramilitary death squads) there who committed the horrific atrocities during that country's civil war. Honestly I'm not even sure you can call it a civil war, it was more of a decade long mass-slaughter
If you've ever talked to someone whose family lived through either of those wars in Guatemala or El Salvador you know what I'm talking about, you never forget the kind of horrific stories they tell you. They raped grandmothers, they shot infants. Pure evil.

My problem with AOC isn’t her beliefs or principles, I understand that she believes in working within the Democratic Party (I don’t). My problem is that I think her strategy probably isn’t going to work or amount to much in the grand scheme of things.
I don’t think she’s a bad person or a sellout, she never claimed to be some kind of revolutionary. But given how little time we have to like, not cook the fucking planet I just don’t see her strategy making enough of a dent to avoid catastrophe.
It’s hard for me to look at the wildfires on the east coast or the hurricanes pummeling the gulf coast and have any kind of faith that we’re going to avoid like, significant portions of this country becoming literally uninhabitable within my lifetime

i always find it hilarious how closely the brazilian online right follows the american right, to the point of even picking up their memes like this picture of the gun couple in st. louis
it’s kind of pathetic because the online american right doesn’t know or give a shit about about brazilian politics but you have guys in são paulo who translate QAnon drops into Portuguese
they even have memes that include george washington and thomas jefferson lmao god this really is sad

the mainstreaming of “slava ukraini, heroyam slava” since 2014 has pretty wild to watch if you know the history of the slogan and who used it
I think it’s important to point out that not all Ukrainians buy into the nationalist narrative, and not all Ukrainian-Canadians are like Freeland. Countless Ukrainians fought bravely for the Red Army, and Freeland’s family history was uncovered by a Ukrainian-Canadian communist.

toss ur dirty shoes in my washing machine heart 💕 music.apple.com/us/album/washi…
mitski reaching like mainstream popularity isn’t something i expected to happen when i first got into her three or four years ago but it’s very nice to see, she’s such a good songwriter and i absolutely adore her and i’m glad its made her successful
although tbh i do think the popularity of someone whose music is basically all about love and loss and sadness is a bit of a worrying sign, it’d be like if Elliott Smith sold out arenas. i adore Elliott Smith but also like, music for depressed people shouldn’t be that popular?
