My experience on intermittent fasting.

1/n
Started exactly on 16th November 2018. In Diwali vacations, read a lot on Dr. Dixit diet way. Eating twice a day, skipping breakfast.
Started doing it.
First two weeks were hell lot difficult. Got adjusted. 11 am first meal.
2/n

7 pm second meal. Slowly and steadily I started seeing the improvements. Gave up sugar and sugary products in December.
(Yet not totally got rid of Alcohol, though intake has reduced significantly over last 10 months)

Principle is simple. When you eat less frequently,
3/n

You get less number of times Insulin in the body .
Insulin is anabolic harmone. It forces body to go into fat storage mode.
Once Insulin comes down to a base level ( differs from person to person) , other crucial hormones like Glucagon come into play and start fat burning
4/n

Mode.
Disclosure: I am just sharing my experience. I am not medical professional and am just writing it off from my understanding of things. Will definitely recommend absolutely amazing youtube videos in end which will guide you much better.
5/n

First phase was difficult for me. Had never skipped breakfast from the day I joined vjti hostel. Year 2000.
Earlier, used to eat twice before joining Hostel. Anyways, weight didn't start piling up that time until I came and joined Siemens. Age 24.
6/n

Sedentary lifestyle started taking toll... When I joined company, my weight was 70...Approx 172 cm height ... BMI near 24

Over the years I ate thrice a day... Breakfast , lunch , dinner.
Snacks, parties and everything.

I moved out of rat race in 2017, weight had climbed
7/n
To approximately 98 kg levels. Was walking daily for 4 kms.
After getting financially free, decided to double time, morning and evening 4/4.5 km each... 8 to 9 km daily...
Have been doing for 14 months upto Nov 18.
No drastic change in weight though. Like all, I used to
8/n

Curse my genes and bad metabolism (which was untrue)

Dixit diet (start weight 97kg in Nov18) helped a lot to slowly bring down weight ... Carb intake was same. No change in diet only change in frequency of eating... Weight slowly came down to 86 levels in 9/10 months
9/n

And worst thing started. Platue. Everyone experience this. Weight loss suddenly vanish and you do everything but the scale doesn't budge.
Weight remained in platue range 85 to 87 for a while.

Went into details again, am i doing something wrong, is my body not ready to come
10/n

Down further?

In the meantime was literally going through transformation... Almost 12 kg weight loss helped me to feel more energetic, people started asking what are you doing, I started running. Yes.
10th standard was the last time I had run in my life.
One day during my
11/n

Morning walk session, thought cripped, should I try to run.
I barely ran 10 feet.
Felt as if impossible thing to me. Shared it with my wife. She started laughing.
It's ok I said to me. Big deal...
Today I sprint , burst sprint for 15-20 second session daily as recommended
12/n

By Mark Scisson. And yes I do it effortlessly.

After hitting platue, I wanted to stretch myself further and started OMAD.

One meal a day.

Thought it's crazy. To make it harder, accompanied it with ketogenic diet....

It was hell for 5 days.
Drowsy. Carb intake reduced
13/n

Significantly. Body was adjusting to change fuel source from carb(glucose) to fat.

After almost a week, started feeling absolutely amazing. Its feeling like never before.

Platue gone. Weight has now come to 82 kg levels.

After seeing my journey, my wife too joined with
14/n

Me. It's much easier now when we do it together.

Much tougher when you have 2.5 year angel who want to feed everything to her father while she eats 10 times a day 😊

She has started understanding it. Father won't eat except in the evening 6 pm. Kids learn fast. ❤️
15/n

During this entire journey my wife stood behind me like rock. My friend @RajeshChande joined my journey just after one month from the day I started. He has also lost approximately 6-7 kgs in the journey.
16/n

Learned a lot from multi hour incessant youtube watch from great people like... @SatchinPanda ,@drjasonfung, @ProfTimNoakes , @drericwestman , @BenBikmanPhD, @mark_scisson,
@drericbergdc , @ThomasDeLauer , @drstenekberg ...

True inspiration and mentors in the journey. 🙏🙏
17/n

It's totally new lifestyle.
Really difficult if you see from sidelines.
Very low carb intake (20-50) gram of carbohydrates, moderate protein and high fat.
Very delightful to follow.
18/n

Few things to remember:

1) As I always say , sabse bada rog, kya kahenge log. When you are on this journey you will be distracted by each and every individual around you (with few rare exceptions of course). Be ready for that.
2) Don't let nutrients deficiency to creep in.
19/n

3) This form of eating helps you to come out of metabolic disorders. Eliminate insulin resistance and so many abundance of health benefits... Details you will find in videos I am going to share.
20/n

4) Your family support is absolutely must in this journey (Same as in financial independence journey, lucky me in both cases.)

5) Your grocery bills may increase 30% monthly approx. Ghee, Cold pressed coconut oil, groundnut oil, paneer, cheese, non veg items will be part...
21/n

6) You have to be absolutely disciplined in the journey as it's very very easy to get tempted and derail...

7) Beginners should start with first 12:12 intermittent fasting ... Then 16:8 intermittent fasting. Unless your body become fat adapted don't jump on OMAD.
8) Why sharing now: I felt, unless I inculcate this living on my own and don't experience it, it's futile to share with the world. After almost 10 month on this path , now I am comfortable to share and discuss on the topic openly ...
Felt many will get benefited if shared...
23/n

9) Giving up sugars and carb feels difficult. But in reality when you will start eating protein and fat rich foods, your satiety levels increase way too much to reduce and then eliminate cravings...

10) Have weekly weight tracking ... Helps you to be on path. Small wins.
24/n

Thanks twitter family.
If you have that stamina and have read all thread, pardon me for minor mistakes,if inadvertently have happened. Purpose is just to share experience and that too impulsively. Pardon if grammatical mistakes or something like that...

With immense help from Dr. Sean O'Mara, @DrSeanOMara , have been working on sprinting as core ingredient in exercise routine and important focus on gut microbiome. For those who are new to this word, please find a small introductory video here.

26/n

To enhance diversity in gut microbiome, we need to bring in pre-biotic and pro-biotic food types in our daily consumption.

Brief video on understanding pre and pro biotics is attached here.

If we take care of our gut microbiome, it reciprocates 👍

27/n

Emphasis on sprinting started after going through Dr. Sean O'Mara 's @DrSeanOMara videos on YouTube.

The videos were so profound and impactful that immediately I started implementation. Huge benefits you will get surely 👍

28/n

If you want to understand benefits of sprinting in really simple language please go through below video.
Simple yet so effective.
Here he covers almost all crucial benefits in lucid and captivating way...

29/n

If you want to have diverse gut microbiome, you have to feed them properly too.
Try to have multi colour variation in those. Every colour has different significance and importance.

I sprint alternate day, irrespective of which location, city I may be in.The person behind it is @DrSeanOMara who has amazingly captured the importance in 11 minutes video.

I was behind him to do video on sprinting for many days. Finally happy 😊👍

32/n

Big shoutout to @DrSeanOMara .
Visible to eyes pulse on foot... Keto, omad, sprinting. Optimisation.

Many are asking about daily diet.
I try to follow OMAD wherein I try to consume daily caloric intake in one hour... Timing 2-3 pm approx.
I normally have this dish fixed in my meal.Everyday.
Bowl of curd+dessicated coconut+cocoa powder+ground peanuts+cheese+coconut oil. Image
35/n
Along with above curd dish I eat either
A)Meat+egg omlet(based on availability)
Or
B) Salad +6 egg omlet
Or
C) egg plant fries/veg pakoda+ boiled eggs
D) paneer dish to satiety
E) Mushroom sabzi + omlet

Balancing protein, eliminating grains, easy carbs from diet. ImageImageImage
36/n
Regarding oils. Too many questions on it
As far as possible use undefined unfiltered oil. Lakadi Ghana oil which we used to eat for centuries.
I use coconut and groundnut lakadi Ghana oils. No compromise here.
Nowadays in Maharashtra at least you get lakadi Ghana oils across
37/n
Why lakadi Ghana oil?
Lakadi Ghana oils are produced through cold pressing process.
Cold pressed oils retain healthy antioxidants that are otherwise damaged by being exposed to heat. Antioxidants help combat free radicals that cause cell damage in the body.

Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves fell to $2.8 billion at the end of July 2021, from $7.5 billion in November 2019 when the government took office.
This year, Sri Lanka still has two more foreign debt payments of $1.5 billion each due in the next 12 months. 2/n
Tourism was the only vital source of foreign exchange earnings, but that too suffered due to the coronavirus pandemic. Understandable enough. 3/n
