The hardest thing to understand about the no deal headbangers is that they're going to have to keep on living in the hell they create. Like defecating in one's bed before snuggling down under the duvet. Of course their wealth & privilege will insulate them *to an extent*.
They can probably weather higher food prices, for instance. But if genuine shortages hit, what are they going to do? Will there be secret convoys of food and medicine going to MPs and their families?
It will be the most bitter of ironies if they discover we really are "all in it together" only after it's too late...

🧵Shocking reality of the Brexit inland border checks at Sevington, 22 miles from Dover.

The experience and facilities seem designed to be as intimidating, dehumanising and unpleasant as possible.

(Ciaran gave me permission to use his tweets.)

Nothing's there to keep actual humans in even the most basic comfort.

No food facilities. No drinks. Just a tap in the toilet.

This is a French company, by the way. No British one seemed prepared to do the cruelty bit cheaply enough for the Tories to choose them instead.

After a wait which can be 5-6 hours or more, you're locked even more tightly away, and inspected in sullen silence by people treating you like you're a criminal.

Even though you've done nothing wrong, you're made to feel as though you have.

Inland border checks are going to be off the scale bonkers. A failure of implementation only a Tory government could dream up.

1) Enter the UK.
2) Drive 22 miles to get checked.
3) If found dodgy, drive 22 miles back and meekly leave the UK.

Gaping holes ripe for exploitation. Image
Why does it matter? The article helpfully explains:

"The EU carries out strict controls on all goods coming into the bloc, but exerts a lower degree of control on goods transiting, for example from outside the EU to the UK."

And what happens when the checks at the inland border take several hours and the drivers run out of legal driving time that day? Are there huge lorry parks in the area where they can stop and rest for the legally required amount of time, while their loads wilt or rot in the back?

THREAD
There's a lot of hate-farming fuss about flags and what some see as the perversion of the original Union Jack.

Much of the fake rage has emanated from the Tory party, which is ironic given how many times they've bastardised it for their own use.

It's been a tree...

It's been brutally chopped in half, and used as part of a Jenga-inspired sculpture...

It's been cut in half and bent...

The Tories have published their new definition of extremism. It includes 3 components.

It is well worth reading the full definition of each of the components (reproduced later in this thread) because they're extremely sweeping.

Wonder how advocating to leave the ECHR (and indeed agitating to hold a referendum on doing so) squares with this?

After all, doing so would unquestionably strip us of numerous legal protections. Image
Does this preclude advocating for PR?

And what exactly does that last bullet mean?! Image

The Tories have just released a glossy 24-page brochure celebrating the 4th anniversary of Brexit.

As you would expect, it's not only false, it's so false that its mere existence wiped the word "true" from every dictionary in Britain.

So. Many. Lies.

"And we have secured the most comprehensive deal that the EU has ever agreed to in its history."

Er, no. That would be their EU membership offering.

Our own trade deal with them is a mouse fart in a hurricane by comparison.
Let's take a random lie as an example: "Within the EU, the UK would not have been able to cut VAT on the installations of solar panels, heat pumps and insulation to zero"

And now let's go over to an expert...
