This man's hypocrisy is UNTAMABLE.

In his 2012 book Pax Indica, @ShashiTharoor said there are some 20 million illegal Bangladeshis in India. He wrote about them disparagingly, as though they were termites that had "disappeared into the Indian woodwork". Now he remembers Tagore.

In 2005, it was Tharoor's govt, the UPA, that proposed urgency in the drafting and the updating of the NRC in Assam.

Also in 2005, Mamata Banerjee, outraging today, threw papers at the speaker, demanding a discussion on the scourge of illegal Bangladeshi migration.

The #NRC is a Supreme Court-mandated and strictly monitored exercise.

As many as 300 tribunals have been set up and the 1.9 million whose names are missing can approach these in the next 4 months, after which they can appeal to the High Court.

For all its bluster & tough-talk on illegal immigration, the @narendramodi govt found only 1822 illegal Bangladeshi nationals to deport in the last four years, LESS than what the UPA managed in a single year.
