Thank you for mentioning Sir. I thought of explaining the advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of this tree as said is carbon absorption per year is 103 tons. The disadvantages & alternatives are listed below.
Considering the same space, one acre is given to us for forest creation in native methods, we may still equalise the amount of carbon absorption. One acre of native forest will have (approx) 4.5k to 5k trees. A tree on an avg absorbs 22kg of carbon per year.
4,500 * 22= 99 tons of carbon absorption per year. We are no less here. Next we will see the disadvantages of this tree.
Single tree plantation will destroy the soil, not immediately but after a couple of decades. Best example is Pollachi, where coconut trees are majorly planted before a couple of decades and now they are struggling. There are various reasons for Pollachi, but this is the major one
Second, is these trees can't develop a habitat for other squirrels, small insects, honey bees, birds etc., because they don't have a fruit or flower but only leaves to absorb carbon.
Third, is natural propagation of these trees is not possible as there is no fruits which small birds consume and propagate. Only artificial propagation is possible.
With no natural propagation, lesser(nearly zero) habitat development and providing an easier path for soil to lose it's quality, this tree is not advisable for us. But, we don't have to reject it completely. Can be planted in highways or any other decorative places.
On the other hand, we have our own native method of forest development, which provides a habitat for all small birds & insects, maintains the ecological balance, absorbs nearly the same amount of carbon, by providing habitat will allow the birds to propagate native species.
