The spying on citizens had it's heyday with the Stasi and KGB but it was bad enough in the 1700's that the founders wrote amendments against it. Governments trying to Stop people from praying how they wanted caused a migration in the 1600's to a new world.
The endless wars didn't start in 2001. You had the 100 years war back in the 1300-1400's. Global warming and cooling has occurred throughout history. The Bering sea used to be a land bridge. The great lakes used to be under ice. Glaciers used to cover most of Canada/Northern US.
34 million years ago Antarctica had no ice. Mass migration has been going on since before Roman times. The mass insanity we are seeing out of the democrats has been known to occur in other periods of time like in the Salem Witch trials.
The human world hasn't changed. Sure, we have redecorated it some with technology. We have rearranged the topography with our mining, roads and construction but volcanoes still spew, hurricanes still blow, the earth still shakes.
The Sun still rises in the east and sets in the West. The Moon still waxes and wanes. Humans are still humans. This time isn't different.
