It’s the day before the #autumnalequinox, one of my favorite days of the year, when day and night are in perfect balance, the first official day of fall for those of us in the Northern hemisphere...
The word #equinox comes from the Latin ‘aequi’ meaning equal and ‘nox’ meaning night. This is the magic time of fall harvests and harvest moons, but for us up here on the Alaskan riviera, this time for peak viewing of the aurora borealis, or northern lights..
As many of you know, I’ve had a fraught relationship with these celestial fireworks; trying to capture a bit of their astral majesty with my earthbound and unworthy hands in sculpture form... 
I’m not sure if I was successful or not, but art is about struggle and failure and maybe ultimately acceptance. Sort of like life.

At any rate, here’s wishing you and yours a Happy Equinox. Farmer Springer has brought a load of pumpkins down to Ruth Anne’s, and Dave tells me that his special mulled cider is back on the menu at The Brick, only a buck a mug.
And remember that this is the time of balance...and ‘aequi’...equality. Here’s hoping you find yours. And if you think about it take a look upwards to the lights or maybe that big ol’ harvest moon, they shine on ALL of us...
