Morning thoughts after the #Debates2020 We have been living in the midst of evil for 4 years. For all of us with tender hearts this has felt intolerable. /1
2/ Last night Donald trump has an opportunity to express empathy for the families of 220,000 dead Americans - many of whom died alone. He was not able to do so
3/ Last night trump was offered an opportunity to express compassion for the children he ripped from parents arms to sleep alone on concrete. He could not offer a single shred of care

In the second and final presidential debate between President Trump and Joe Biden, the candidates made many fibs and half-truths throughout the six-sections of the debate. #Debates2020

Here's a look at some of the biggest contentions and inaccuracies:
usatoday.com/story/news/fac…
Not only are COVID-19 cases up, so too are hospitalizations and deaths. However, during the debate, President Trump blamed the higher numbers on testing, which is not true. Extensive testing will identify more cases, but only if those infections exist. bit.ly/35kFaD2 President Trump claimed that “we’re rounding the turn”Data shows that COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths
When the debate shifted to a discussion about China, Biden said Trump has caused trade deficit with China to go up. That’s no longer the case. Joe Biden said President Trump “has caused the deficit witThe U.S. trade deficit with China in goods and services was

“The Obama administration never separated children from their parents.”

This is an outright lie that can easily be disproven by performing a quick Google search.
Can someone tell me how this is different from anything Trump has ever said? Was Obama called a Nazi and a white supremacist?

Remember, Biden was his VP and NEVER spoke out against “racial injustices” at the southern US border. #Debates2020 #BidenWon
Oh look. Obama and Biden detained children at the border and separated them from their parents. I guess that makes Obama/Biden white nationalist, Nazi “Poor Boys.” #Debates2020 #BidenWon

I'm sick of the victim blaming.

People who think kids separated at the border are living in "good conditions" are also likely to think:

slaves had it better here than in their homeland
women are less likely to be raped if they stay at home
asylees are better off fixing their home countries

At the final presidential debate, Americans watched as President Trump highlighted his impressive record of accomplishment and articulated his vision for the country’s future—a stark contrast to Joe Biden’s 47 years of failure.

Here are the top five MUST-WATCH moments ⤵️
1️⃣ President Trump slammed Joe Biden’s terrible economic agenda, which would cost the average family an estimated $6,500 per year.

“His plan is an economic disaster."
2️⃣ President Trump condemned Biden’s plan to eliminate America’s oil industry.

“Basically, what he’s saying is he is going to destroy the oil industry."

I thought Joe Biden would tell us tonight, but there was nothing there.” #Debates2020

Washington Post reporter @MFFisher asks my group of undecideds about character.

Similarly as before, they say Joe Biden is a more decent person, but they side more with Trump’s policies and how they affect their daily lives.

Watching this debate shows the trajectory that this country has been destined for from its onset.  A nation founded on genocide, built on slavery, and empowered through imperialism now finds itself in an ever-increasing state of decadence.  #Debates2020 #PresidentialDebate2020
The current president and a former vice-president spoke tonight about children in cages at our borders who will likely never see their parents again as a talking point, not a concern. #Debates2020 #PresidentialDebate2020
The majority of their respective statements are rooted in pointing out the failures and weaknesses in the other, not in highlighting their own strengths and successes. #Debates2020 #PresidentialDebate2020

Trump says "I am the least racist person in this room" at #Debates2020. At the first presidential debate, Trump refused to condemn white supremacy. Instead he told right-wing extremist group The Proud Boys to “Stand back and stand by.” huffp.st/YXU8xkr
The comment drew swift backlash. Kamala Harris told MSNBC viewers that Trump’s rhetoric was “a dog whistle through a bullhorn.” huffp.st/cb2Epml
The Proud Boys, on the other hand, celebrated Trump’s callout. “Trump basically said to go f**k them up. This makes me so happy,” one prominent Proud Boy said. huffp.st/nvZ7bRH

Trump boasted at #Debates2020 that his Opportunity Zone tax breaks helped Black Americans. We've reported numerous instances where they benefited wealthy Whites. In FL, wealthy GOP donors successfully lobbied for a break for a superyacht marina: propublica.org/article/supery…
But wait. There's more.
Like Cleveland Cavaliers owner & Quicken founder Dan Gilbert, whose company donated $750K to Trump's inaugural fund, scored opportunity zone status for wealthy parts of Detroit where he owns billions in property #Debates2020 propublica.org/article/how-a-…
Meanwhile, in Baltimore, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank got a huge tax break — at the expense of the city's poorer neighborhoods — for a plot of land under a highway but near a development project he owns #Debates2020 propublica.org/article/trump-…

Trump has a decades-long history of racism. In 1973, he and his father were accused of refusing to rent apartments to Black people, for example. This June article dives into his track record. #Debates2020 huffp.st/xCXDA15
Most recently, Trump has mocked Kamala Harris’ name, used racist critiques of her debate performance and leaned into birther conspiracies similar to the ones he pushed during Barack Obama’s presidency. huffp.st/uY6X990
Trump has repeatedly launched racist attacks on Rep. Ilhan Omar and three other women of color serving in Congress who are informally known as “The Squad.” In September, he told Omar that this isn’t her country and mocked her birthplace. huffp.st/fRg4oir

Trump says he will create a "beautiful health care plan" at #Debates2020. He has never thought past repealing the ACA and still has no coherent health care agenda. He and congressional Republicans failed to repeal it in 2017 and haven’t tried again. huffp.st/fTxyvJy
But Trump’s Justice Department backs a lawsuit brought from a group of state Republican officials to achieve the same outcome, a case the Supreme Court is due to hear one week after Election Day.
If the plaintiffs win, the entire law could disappear, along with health coverage for an estimated 21 million people. Companies could also deny coverage to people with preexisting conditions once again.

Kristen Welker moves to the topic of American families and health care in #Debates2020: Over 20 million Americans get their insurance through the Affordable Care Act... if the Supreme Court does overturn that law, what would you do if they have their insurance taken away?
Trump: "What I would like to do is a much better health care. Much better. We'll always protect people with pre-existing [conditions.]"

"I'd like to terminate Obamacare, come up with a brand new beautiful health care."
Biden: "What I'm going to do is pass Obamacare with a public option, become Bidencare."

"Secondly, we're going to make sure we reduce the premiums and drug prices by making sure that there's competition that doesn't exist now."

Trump and Biden are asked about their health care policies during the #Debates2020. huffp.st/fTxyvJy
Although Biden isn’t campaigning in favor of anything as dramatic as “Medicare for All,” it’s hard to overstate the differences between his vision for American health care and Trump’s.
Like his fellow Republicans, Trump wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act and for the government to do less about the cost and the availability of decent coverage.

Biden had a terse final comment on Trump’s tax returns during #Debates2020: "You have been saying for four years you are going to release your taxes. Nobody knows, Mr. President. What they do know is that you are not paying your taxes, or you are paying taxes that are so low.”
Last month, Trump’s biographer warned that the president’s massive debt makes him vulnerable to foreign influence — and a threat to national security. huffp.st/YnFyWk7
Trump is in a position to use the power of his office to erase some of his $421 million debt by obtaining lucrative deals for his international companies from foreign interests looking to curry favor with the U.S. government.

Trump brings up the New York Post’s Hunter Biden story at #Debates2020. Critical elements of the feature are dubious, contradictory or outright false. huffp.st/ee2sIk8
As the Post tells it, Biden’s son, Hunter, left his damaged laptop at a Delaware repair shop last spring, but he never came back for it. The shop owner made a copy of the hard drive and gave it to Robert Costello — an attorney for Rudy Giuliani — who later gave it to the Post.
The hard drive contained a 2015 email from a top executive at Burisma.
