1/ Jeez is there any drug worth taking ? WARFARIN: A long-term adverse effect of warfarin therapy is vascular calcification. The proven mechanism is warfarin’s near-shutdown of the body’s vitamin K recycling capacity.
(contd)
2/ As the availability of functional (that is, electronically reduced) vitamin K via the K cycle becomes limited, whether from warfarin therapy, from dietary inadequacies, or from other factors, the body progressively is deprived of vitamin K’s carboxylation capacity. (contd)
3/ The VKD proteins OC and MGP are abundant in bone and vessel wall connective tissues, respectively, and are central to calcium homeostasis in these tissues. Vitamin K depletion impairs their physiological carboxylation, which translates into derangement (contd)
4/ of calcium homeostasis (among other adverse effects); hence, the pathological calcification of the blood vessels, is a severe complication of warfarin therapy. (If you're taking statins alongside Warfarin it's a double whammy as Statins inhibit the synthesis of K2, (contd)
5/ the cofactor for matrix Gla-protein activation, which in turn protects arteries from calcification.

1/ The fact that Statins are anti-inflammatory is a good thing. BUT BUT the way they accomplish this anti-inflammatory action is NOT without PROBLEMS

One of the compounds made in the Mevalonate Pathway is something called nuclear factor kappa B, also known as NF-kB.
2/ It is an important part of the IMMUNE system , but it is highly inflammatory (Remember that inflammation is also an important part of the healing process, so you need some inflammatory compounds in your body to help fight infections, microbes, and worst case cancer.
3/ Statins turn down the volume on CoQ10 production, another “branch” in the Mevalonate pathway that is short circuited by statins. They also turn down the NF-kB pathway. The point is, no one knows the long term consequences of constantly suppressing NF-kB

1/4 Is this what you want for yourself ?. " I was prescribed statins & noticed horrendous side effects almost immediately. Muscle pains & weakness, inability to concentrate, lack of sleep &, most terrifying of all, deteriorating eyesight, I spent several months a year in
2/4 South India doing humanitarian aid work so I asked the opinions fo some Drs there. The eye surgeon who had done my wife's Lasic Surgery checked me every year for cataracts. Year one; there was a shadow ... Indicating a future problem
3/4 ( I was then about 55 ) .Next year it was far worse and what he asked me shocked me deeply " You have macular degeneration; are you taking Statins" ? . " Er, yes" . "You need to make a decision; continue the Statins and lose your sight; or discontinue them! I was sold!

1/7 For more than 30 years a controversy has raged between the pharmaceutical industry, the health services and independent doctors & scientists over the use of Statin drugs. It affects the health of millions of members of the public who are increasingly confused by conflicting
2/7 arguments over the safety and efficacy of Statin drugs which are already prescribed for over 7 million people in the UK alone.

Geoffrey Galley (a scientist and entrepreneur) stepped into the middle of this seemingly unsolvable dispute and provided us with a remarkable
3/7 solution which should be equally attractive to those on both sides of the argument. Instead of accepting what would be an unmanageable adjudication of the vast body of scientific and technical information underpinning the case made by each side, he proposes an INDEPENDENT

1/ What you need to know. The benefits of Statin drugs have been widely exaggerated, and any benefit of these drugs has nothing to do with their benefit of lowering cholesterol.
2/ Depletion causes muscle pain, weakness & fatigue. The brain depends on cholesterol to function optimally. Cholesterol helps stimulate thinking & memory.

Statins lead to a reduction in SEX hormones. Sexual dysfunction is common but under reported side effect of these drugs
3/ There is evidence that Statin drugs may be associated with a higher risk of Diabetes & Cancer. (I think I can prove that association)

1/ Pomegranate Juice (PJ) is one of the few "trendy" health foods that actually lives up to its hype. Researchers at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology suggest that long term consumption of Pomegranate juice may help slow ageing and protect against heart disease. /2
2/ In a study published in the American Journal of Cardiology, 45 patients with heart disease drank either 8 ounces of Pomegranate juice or 8 ounces of Placebo for 3 months. The pomegranate juice drinkers had significantly less oxygen deficiency to the heart during exercise /3
3/ i.e. increased blood flow to the heart. Pomegranate juice has the ability to inhibit oxidation of LDL Cholesterol (Remember that LDL-C is only a problem when it's oxidised), and an impressive number of studies have demonstrated a beneficial effect of PJ on CVD health, /4
