Chantings at Alathiyur Subrahmanya temple which was restored in 2019. The Thaippooyam festival on 8 Feb is happening after atleast a century when the temple remained in ruins.

Revival of a temple reconnects us to the roots of our ancient civilisation and it's rituals.

Keshavan Namboodiri is the 96 year old priest who kept lamp burning at Alathiyur Subrahmanya temple when it was lying in ruins for decades since 1921.

He was honoured during the Thaippooyam festival celebrations.

In ancient Bharat, the worship was a science with its own process which we now term as rituals. Idea was to strengthen the mind, and awaken qualities that will reflect on your actions.

Temples were places where the worship was done so that the entire society could benefit.
The worship done at a personal level termed Sadhana is also essential as a strong society is built from strong individuals.

This knowledge of the science of worship is what many Gurus provide via Deeksha.

This is the tradition that is in existence in Bharat since ages.
Some Sampradayas and Gurus provide Deeksha only based on the birth, caste and varna.

And there are Sampradayas and Gurus who give Deeksha or knowledge of worship of Divine irrespective of status, caste or gender.

All should find a Guru and follow Sampradayas which suits them.

The number of petitions filed in High Courts and orders issued by bureaucrats and govts every year against Devi worship and festivals are mind boggling.

Many Hindu backward and tribal communities are being denied their religious rights.

Chatar Jatra is the festival for Maa Manikeswari, the Presiding Deity of Kalahandi district, Odisha.

@PMOIndia had instructed Odisha govt to stop the essential rituals for the Goddess. Odisha HighCourt later banned them via WPC 19827/2017 based on a PIL.

We have located and completed the documentation of 100 Hindu temples that came under the sword of Tipu Sultan and ensuing Jihad.

We intend to complete documentation of another 200 destroyed temples in the next two years.

All the data will be published as books.

During research we learned of an ancient river festival that stopped in 1766 AD due to invasion of Hyder Ali, father of Tipu.

The same was revived during years 2019 and 2020.
