Well
Okay so important, non-spoilery early thoughts on #OuterWilds. Navigation, at least early on, is largely your responsibility. You get tools but you have to use them. Also, ton of awkward mechanics which make me feel... Miasmata in space. This is a good and very exciting thing.
Worldbuilding requires a lot of reading - although there is more to this than just reading. But I love the surreal proportions of the #OuterWilds universe. Everything is within easy reach. A small village in a valley made spaceships. Out of wood. We love this at Camp Dance.
But so quickly I reach SHHHH territory in #OuterWilds.

Because I landed on a planet, a thing happened because of how I set down and I then had to deal with the fallout.

It was incredible and I was in love. And I can't tell you about it because spoilers.

That's all for now.
More #OuterWilds tonight. I'm not really sure this game is tweetable except in highly vague terms like "it's a game."
The exploration horizon is fascinating. You are prompted, gently, towards certain waypoints. But these prompts are so nuanced that the decision feels entirely yours rather than a shepherding design of #OuterWilds.
We made the decision tonight to follow up [CENSORED] which has been bugging us since the very beginning of the #OuterWilds. And that was a real stretch for my ship handling skills.

Such joy. And the journey was worth it - and not for neat visuals. I have theories now.
Thus far, #OuterWilds seems to leave you to make up your own mind about what you're unearthing. Occasionally, you'll get a nod from the game when chatting with the locals but otherwise the player is a translator of narrative, turning symbols and places into meaning.
In some ways, I am reminded of Kairo which baffled many critics and players, but I translated the shit out of it.

Not one NPC in #OuterWilds was asking about [CENSORED] but it became a small incidental mystery for me. We got to the bottom of it - and found more mystery.
And I don't find #OuterWilds a visual masterpiece but it still offers Special Moments. Like when I went exploring [????] and had to stop, back up, and shout at the family: look at this. LOOK AT THIS.

That's more than enough cryptic tweets and lame screenshots for today.
this was my attempt to explain why i don't play #OuterWilds that often

It's somewhat shocking to see your craft in pieces in #OuterWilds. This is irreparable damage.
Jeepers, there's such a sense of place in #OuterWilds. The planets feel like planets even though they're not planet-sized in any realistic sense. Brilliant work on getting the scale and ease-of-traversal *just* right.
Let's see if I can get #OuterWilds finished soon. It's not received much quality play time in recent months.
We were genuinely creeped out by this particular journey in #OuterWilds, especially as the signal we were tracking sounds like choral singing from The Shining. But were we right to be wary?

I'm not going tell you, obvs, that would be spoilz
Ha, just checked, that wasn't choral singing at all. I got confused with the other signals. I reckon I could still get away with citing The Shining though
we saw it
we definitely saw it

but we're still hunting a moon, because moon's haunted, right #OuterWilds
