#1 Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) by BJP govt plans to grant citizenship to minorities (except Muslims) from Afghanistan, Pakistan & Bangladesh. National Register of Citizens (NRC) will identify illegal residents. Does this affect SC/ST/NT/OBC? #NRCAgainstReservation
#2 How will government separate “illegal residents” from “genuine citizens”? All Indian residents, Atheist, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, Anglo-Indian, Brahmin, Dalits, Baniya, OBC, Kshatriya, etc will have to show documents & prove they are *genuine citizens*.
# 3 Those who cannot provide documents will be declared as *illegal residents*. A large majority of SC/ST/OBC/NT are poor & illiterate due to structural reasons & they do not have documents which the government will ask. #NRCAgainstReservation
#4 SC/ST/OBC/NT who *fail* to show documents will have to spend lots of money in the courts. If the court does not rule in their favour then *they will be* sent to the detention camps. We also know that courts have never ruled in favour of SC/ST/OBC/NT. #NRCAgainstReservation
#5 CAA-NRC is not only against Indian Muslims but also against Dalits, Tribals, Other Backward Castes & Nomadic Tribes. Majority Bahujans are poor & they will not be included in NRC because they don’t have documents. #NRCAgainstReservation
#6 Assam has 3.29 crore population. NRC in Assam excluded more than 19 lakh people. About 12 lakh of them are Hindus and many of them are Dalits, OBC Hindus from north India. #NRCAgainstReservation
#7 When majority of the excluded population in Assam is Hindu then in the rest of the country Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs and Nomadic Tribes will be excluded from the national NRC. #NRCAgainstReservation
#8 SC/ST/OBC/NT not registered in NRC will be considered as *illegal residents*. Once SC/ST/OBC/NT are declared as *illegal residents* they cannot go avail reservation benefits in higher education, govt jobs. SC/ST atrocity act will not provide protection to *illegal residents*.
#9 Once Dalits, OBCs and NTs are excluded from NRC, government will remove SC/ST/OBC/NT reservation in Parliament, Assembly, Municipal Corporation, Zilla Parishads and Panchayats. Secondly, government will remove reservation in jobs and higher education. #NRCAgainstReservation
#10 2011 Caste Census is ready, but the govt is not publicising it. Why? The govt does not want to release the data because the population of SC/ST/OBC has increased. This means that the government will have to increase SC/ST budget & reservations in jobs, education, parliament.
#11 Once the NRC is comes in action, government will declare that 2011 caste census as invalid. #NRCAgainstReservation
#12 NRC is therefore against the SC/ST/OBC/NT communities. Most importantly, NRC will destroy the reservation policies. The special protection given to SC/ST communities under the Indian constitution will also be removed. #NRCAgainstReservation

The privileged around the world deliberately conflate *poverty* with socio-economic marginalisation based on caste, gender, race and ethnicity. Let me share a few pointers from my labour courses! @AmbedkarCaravan@Profdilipmandal @elite_dalit @Komal_Rajak_
@AmbedkarCaravan@Profdilipmandal @elite_dalit @Komal_Rajak_ #1 There are two types of exclusion: “Individual” and “Group-Based”. Poverty is best understood in terms of *Individual Exclusion* (IE) and socio-economic marginalisation based on race, caste, gender and ethnicity is a result of *Group-Based Exclusion* (GE).
@AmbedkarCaravan@Profdilipmandal @elite_dalit @Komal_Rajak_ #2 Individual Exclusion (IE) is experienced by *individuals* from any groups: Whites, Blacks, Latinos, White Immigrants, Black Immigrants, Brahmins, Upper castes, Dalits, Adivasis, Other Backward Castes, Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists.
