The Italian gambist Paolo Biordi will release Jan. 24 2020 for the Italian label Dynamic "Lessons for Solo Lyra Viol", by Alfonso Ferrabosco II ("The Younger"), the first complete recordings of such pieces from Ferrabosco's "Lessons for 1. 2.and 3. Viols.", London 1609.

In March 2019 PIVA - The Renaissance Collective, have recorded "The Faerie Round", a CD dedicated to music from late 16th Century England. No release date yet.

I understand that Vol. 7 (a triple CD) of the complete recording of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book by Peter-Jan Belder will be released in April by @Brilliantclas6. With 67 pieces still missing from the total of 297, this could well be the last CD of the series.

The duo Mignarda - Donna Stewart, Mezzo soprano and Ron Andrico, lute - are recording "Unquiet Thoughts: English ayres for voice and lute", a collection of English #lutesongs by #Dowland and his contemporaries. Possibly available by the end of 2020

The last volume of the #NotSoComplete recording of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book #FVB by Peter-Jan Belder has been released by @Brilliantclas6 It's a triple CD with pieces by Giles and Richard Farnaby, William Byrd and Anonymous #ElizabethanMusic #Keyboard

The series numbers 7 volumes, for a total of 15 CDs. The attached picture (I hope you can see it) shows how the pieces of the #FVB are distributed throughout the CDs, with 4 pieces recorded twice and 1 three times.

And 3 missing.

Yep, in this much-touted "complete" recording of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book there are 3 pieces missing from the total of 297 in the manuscript #NotSoComplete

And that pisses me off enormously.

Because I bet they will add the missing pieces when they will issue the box set.

"Francis Cutting: Lute Music", by the Italian lutenist Domenico Cerasani has been released by @Brilliantclas6 This is the first CD specifically dedicated to the #Lute music of this #Elizabethan composer (c.1550–1595/6)

There are two editions of Cutting's lute music: "Collected Lute Music", by Jan W.J. Burgers for TREE Edition, Lübeck, 2002, with 58 pieces (5 of uncertain ascription), and "Selected Works" by Martin Long, Oxford Unversity Press, 1968, with 41 pieces.

Consort of Viols @Arculo1 have released an "EP" with 3 pieces for 3 Viols. I particularly like the Almain a3 by John Coperario (VdGS 33; Charteris 133; Och MS 379-81, No. 20) for which I am not aware of any previous recording. Buy and support them.

The Swiss Consort of Viols 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞 has released on July 1st "Richard Mico: Pavans & Fancies for the Viols" for the label 𝐀𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐤𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
This is the first ever CD completely dedicated to this composer (1590–1661).

"Trios for One (English Trios for Bass Viols)" a CD of pieces for 3 Viols by Thomas Morley, Thomas Lupo and John Ward by #Viola da Gamba player Josh Lee @gambajosh will be released on September 25th for the label @BearMachineInc. The single "O fly not" has been already released.
