College + HS students ask me all the time what's a skill they should have by the time they graduate, & no matter what work they want to do, I always say
Excel skills
At the very least
🖱️Pivot tables & reporting
🖱️VLOOKUP + INDEX + MATCH
🖱️IF tests & calculations
🖱️Formatting
After mastering, or even just understanding the logic behind those basics, I recommend next learning a MS Excel specialty or complementary skill
My 5 most recommended advanced Excel skills to pick up
⌨️ Macros
⌨️ VBA
⌨️ SQL
⌨️ Tableau
⌨️ PowerBI
Finally, when it comes to my more multidisciplinary students, who won't use Excel as much for its reporting and data analysis capabilities, I recommend they learn how to use it for
☀️ Project management
☀️ Inventory tracking
☀️ Charts and budgeting
☀️ Social media calendars
