Per charging documents (citing interviews with at least one other member of the server), Teixeira allegedly began posting classified information to the Discord server in December of 2022.

Also appears that the FBI obtained records about Teixeira via Discord including his name, billing information, and address. Image

NEW: How one survivor's discovery of a bank statement for $16 million dollars and a handwritten letter in Cyrillic launched a years-long investigation into who she came to believe was the son of one of the CIA's most valuable Russian spies:

I first met Lisa the day after my birthday in the winter of 2020. I'm speechless finally bringing her story to you, today.

In her own words: "How many others can there be?....Even if there's one, it's too much."
Reporting and writing this story challenged me in ways I've never encountered before in my career. Later, perhaps I'll pull out some key details to highlight, but for now, I'll let the story (quite long!) speak for itself.

Thanks in advance for reading.

White House claiming victory for "ending the pandemic," which is blatantly untrue.

Also "understanding our planet." What does that even mean?
Here's my March piece on the OSTP and its challenge finding a role at the White House in the coronavirus pandemic: news.yahoo.com/president-trum…
Back then, there was certainly concern, but OSTP was still convening real scientific discussion. Career officials were doing their best.

I can't imagine they approve of this message.

Fiona Hill, Trump's former top Russia expert on the NSC, tells @jimsciutto that Trump's reelection would boost the Kremlin's hopes to continue to sow chaos, but in his first term, Russia has not really succeeded with "concrete policy goals" like loosening of sanctions.
On threats to the election: "Vladimir Putin is not going to steal your vote from the mail, the biggest risk is that it's not delivered on time."
And reiterating the same point I keep hearing: "The biggest problem right now is domestic actors and people not having confidence in our elections," and Russia's ability to "make it look like" they're deteriorating the trustworthiness of our electoral system.

"It would seem that despite Trump’s record in bullying, berating, and investigating the United States Intelligence Community, when it comes to Iran, the CIA’s leaders have been among the enablers of his more hawkish tendencies," writes @douglaslondon5:

Very interesting argument about how CIA has supported and propped up Pompeo and Trump's hawkish drive vs Iran, perhaps sometimes ignoring reality—and perhaps helping Pompeo politically in the future. Image
This notion that Haspel and Pompeo are close is one I've heard about too in some detail. Makes sense to me that his protection is one way she's kept out of the radar/line of fire. Image

Lt. Gen Ashley of DIA, on the effort to track the pandemic inside the intel community:

"We did it early on. We looked at everything we knew, who we told, when we knew it, what leader knew it. I am confident we did what we were supposed to do."
He says the National Center for Medical Intelligence is tasked with understanding "the capacity of a foreign military to deal with a pandemic...I'm very proud of the NCMI team, they did their job and they got the word out."
Seven months ago (!), I reported on NCMI and how military intelligence provided some of the first clues about how the Chinese military was being tasked to respond to the pandemic:
