So I have a group where young people in the industry talk about different things and this vibe issue came up... Here are my thoughts

Yes the conversations about the business part of the recording process is to be done by the manager but not everyone has a manager and if the producer doesn't have a manager but is informed then he is right to bring it up

If you don't want to discuss those things with the producer then get your manager to have the conversations earlier before you get there so that end is sorted because if the producer is about his business, which he should be, he or she is going to bring it up

The producer is actually at an advantage... If he can record the entire visit/session, that provides a time stamp with evidence that he wrote or produced or contributed to the content created... If a dispute arises, that's proof. Artists can do this too

Get the business sorted so that you can focus on vibing... Nobody is doing favours as more people are understanding that this is a good way to eat and take care of their families... Respect that!

So all that emotional stuff is pointless... If you want to freely vibe, get your team to sort things. If you don't have a team, discuss it and finalise then set up a date. Gives time to prepare your mind for recording and get the tedious negotiations behind you #VibesOnTwitter
About paying... What exactly are you paying for? The person who creates the work, owns its publishing. Are you also paying for the publishing or just the masters or both or none??? All these things are important

The producer can argue that he charged you for his time and that it was not a work for hire... Well he would be right cos its your word against his. Disputes arise because terms are not clear. Agreements are the reference points

When the music pops and "blows" how do you all get paid? Aren't you hoping the songs do well? Then why are you doing it?
If you put your heart into the music, you should also be thinking of how best to exploit it

Or atleast have your team thinking about it
We have all made mistakes
We need to start thinking long term. Get yourself a team and then all of you get yourselves informed
