Kangujam Karnajit is father of the child activist who herself became news after claims of going to represent India as speaker addressing the UN in the 6th session of the Global Platform for disaster Risk reduction in Geneva last year
I had no idea who the girl was then and first reacted with a 'wow' at the breaking news that a 7 yr old with roots to Manipur was going places. Felt something was fishy because there was no mention of her parents or school. That led me to dig up the source of the story
The breaking news story originated from a press release sent out by the International Youth Committee signed by the General Secy, a certain Dr. Hilda Jacob. Could not trace who this person was on online searches. Looked up IYC and found it was fronted by Kangujam Karnajit
Just that the IYC site had his name as Dr. KK Singh which are his initials. Someone needs to dig out whether he has a passport in this name or under his original name. There are criminal cases against him (in earlier name) in Imphal 
It was #PaojelChaoba of @ImphalFreePress who was the only journalist who was NOT swayed by the rise of Kangujam Karnajit (in a similar manner to how the daughter is in the news)

Kangujam Karnajit was going around in a vehicle with a UNESCO flag and got the then CM and other ministers to be present for a Global Youth Summit in Imphal in 2014. That sort of gave him legitimacy and then he cheated a lot of people
Paojel Chaoba's relentless investigations into Kangujam Karnajit (nowhere Dr KK Singh) did lead to the later's arrest

Then the man disappeared till the breaking news last year that the child activist everyone is talking about now was to go the UN event I mentioned earlier. Beyond seeing that both had the same surname 'Kangujam' we had no proof they were related
Except that, when we refuted the claim that the child was representing India as a Speaker at a UN event, her SM accounts put out sob stories of how 'my father is being maligned because he owes money to people'. That was their admission exposing the father-daughter link
There are similarities in the rise of Kangujam Karnajit alias Dr KK Singh and the daughter... Both do attend conferences, pose with VIPs and use those visuals to great impact. Both have awards tonight their names, some from organizations you can't trace properly
There was a clarification from the UN event organizers that the child was never invited as a speaker nenow.in/north-east-new…
But SM accounts of the child were filled with emotional outpourings expressing her 'distress that an innocent child is being targetted' and her feeds had photos at the UN event which is easy. All one has to do is pay registration fees and attend conferences and pose
And then after Greta had caught the fancy of everyone, she caught the attention of national media when she stood before the Parliament. We reached out to a few media agencies with what we knew. No one was interested
In fact, the CM of Manipur who had himself retweeted the news of the child going to the UN event only deleted his retweet. There was no police investigations to find out the whereabouts of KK Singh
The apathy AND the lazy mainstream media has created a situation where a minor child is now being attacked. The real questions should be directed at her guardians and the media who created her
