Seeing this a lot: "lots of diseases are named for where they come from."

Many viruses HAVE BEEN named after where they were *discovered.*

The decision was explicitly made to stop doing that because it causes major problems for the location it was discovered...
Where it is discovered is often not where it originated! That is, again specifically, why it was named "COVID-19."

Further: "China" is not a location.
For the curious: the "19" of COVID-19 is for 2019, when the first case was identified.

Also acceptable is "SARS-CoV-2" for "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2" ("regular" SARS is caused by SARS-CoV)
To be the MOST accurate:

The disease is COVID-2 and the virus that causes it is SARS-CoV-2

There is no such thing as "Chinese virus"
