Theory of Gravity before Newton-

'Spherical earth is held in space by an intrinsic force'
-Surya Siddhanta

'We dont fall off the earth because it is its nature to attract bodies.'
-Brahmagupta

'Planets are held in orbit by the force of Gurutva'
-Bhaskara

Just a clarification.
Newton certainly gave the law of gravitation with analytical proof. But he certainly was not the first to 'theorize' about Gravity nor was he the discoverer of calculus without which 'Theory' would never become 'Law'.

Both the theory & the tools to prove it came from India.
Each of these - Theory, calculus and proof are independent & equally important milestones which takes centuries to develop. It is not something one man can accomplish in one lifetime. But colonial historians have convinced the world that Newton accomplished just that.
India took 1000 years to develop calculus- From Aryabhattas differential equation in 499CE to Madhava's infinite series expansions in 1350CE. All this was imported en masse into Europe between 1580 CE & 1600 CE. Newton never had the burden of 'independently rediscovering' it.
