Remember when, during the campaign, Trump said he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and his supporters wouldn’t care?

We are watching that play out right now

Trump is publicly encouraging people to protest in large groups at the apex of a pandemic
Trumps encouragement will make the protests larger and more frequent. It’s inevitable that, at many of these events, the coronavirus will spread.

Maybe it will kill someone attending the protests. Maybe the protesters will spread it to someone else who will die.
But, as it turns out, Trump was right.

His negligent response to the pandemic has resulted in thousands of preventable deaths.

Fomenting protests against social distancing will likely result in more fatalities.

And yes, at least 40% of the country is with him regardless

1. Trump has no public health strategy for COVID-19.

But he does have a political strategy.

It may or may not work, but it's important to understand it.

Let's review.
2. The first step is positioning himself as in favor of reopening the economy.

That was the purpose of the document he released yesterday.

It wasn't a plan and provided no resources or real strategies.

But it was a political symbol. Trump wants Americans to get back to work.
3. But equally important was Trump was saying governors should decide when they are ready to allow businesses to reopen.

That way, when states take a long time to reopen HE CAN BLAME THE GOVERNORS FOR THE ECONOMY

Trump is for reopening. It's the governors who are opposed.

1. Both @Petco and @PetSmart have decided that, during a pandemic, getting your dog "ready for spring with a new do" is an essential service

Both companies are owned by private equity firms

So there is a premium on juicing short-term profits

And dog grooming is very profitable

3. State employees in Alabama and Indiana told Popular Information that dog grooming is prohibited.

But Petsmart continues to operate their salons in both states.

The company says its complying with the law.
