Hyped and honored to be Walking Alone and in Community with @marijkehecht & @shimirawms
Day 1: To walk is to be reacquainted with joy, time, death, life and our beautifully-inconsequential, yet powerful smallness---feeling grateful in this body that allows for me to slow down and loiter...
@shimirawms @marijkehecht Thinking about converting my pics from #WalkingAloneandTogether into a coloring book called Walking Wilkinsburg
and Cats too!
Day 2: I notice creatures all around me as I walk the speed of a newly-minted loiterer. Giant dragonflies fill my yard while feline assassins are on the prowl for squirrels and street-legal catnip. I'm grateful that I can frolic among giraffes, a T-Rex and catty boys...
Day 3: Lurking in the daylight a masked marauder loiters in the light and the spaces in between...wandering and wondering on foot surrendering to the magic and playfulness of light and darkness. I am grateful for this space and time to re-see with beginner's mind.
Day 4: Even in decay life continues...

As I walk around my neighborhood today and hold a space for decay. It has me thinking of what it means to be of service to the world and truly give of yourself. What is my timeline of service? How might I surrender to decay with joy?
I observe how mushrooms grow on decayed logs and I wonder...how am I living so that as I decay I'm am still nurturing and feeding life?
Sorry I forgot to tag @marijkehecht and @shimirawms. I'm inspired and joyful to be on this journey with the two of you.
Day 5: Walking with Rumi...
Today's walk was brought to you by my cat who embodies the spirit of loitering. The etymology of loiter is to be loose or erratic, shake, wag and wobble about or totter like a loose tooth or sail in a storm. I'm embracing the scribble of life...
As I was writing and enjoying my flowers from @jesskaminsky, I was also pondering what George and Rumi could teach me about the surveillance culture we're deeply enmeshed in...
Day 6:
Dear Universe,
What are we called to do? What is this moment in time needing of our attention? Loitering in the middle of the street close to my house, I am also standing at the intersections of time, history, love, loss, grief & joy. How might I listen 4 the new signals?

@shimirawms @marijkehecht What was in your soundscape today?
Day 7: I was inspired by @marijkehecht noticing blues in her wandering on Day 2, and my interests were piqued on what colors I might notice. I have been seeing yellows in emerge both vibrantly and languidly accentuating my walks. And the myriad of flowers in full bloom...
each vying for my attention and flirting mercilessly, egging me on to pick them up. But I abide by the boundaries of property lines and consent.

Soundtrack: Sun Ra - Door Of The Cosmos
Today I helped co-create a physically distant but socially connected street game: Torpedo Throw! Hoping it will become part of an Olympic series. As neighbors walked down the middle of the street to keep the 6 ft, wagering was encouraged. Rumi decided to get in on the action!
Inspired coloring pages from yesterday's yellowfest...
I was out and about between Zoom calls during the day, but I actually took my walk tonight. These walks ground me. This challenge grounds me. It has illuminated a deep desire to find the rhythms to be of service to the world wholeheartedly and compassionately.
