Today, Jeremy Corbyn's tenure as Labour leader finally comes to an end, after five years of entirely predictable catastrophe. But that's not enough. We have to kill the idea of hero worship in politics. politics.co.uk/blogs/2020/04/…
Nothing good comes from it, no matter which values it is ostensibly designed to promote. It turns followers into conspiracy theorists, bending reality to support their faith. And it leads them to behave in abusive and bitter ways.
It doesn't really matter where you are in politics. You can take a lesson from what happened. Never let it happen to you. Never go in for hero worship. Never allow your admiration for a politician to disconnect you from objective reality.
