Trump claims that, when Azar said in 2019 that the thing that "keeps him up at night" is the threat of a flu pandemic, Azar was not talking about any specific pandemic but only "the concept" of a pandemic, and in fact no one anticipated a specific pandemic would actually happen.
These briefings are pointless because we already know every response Trump will give:

Obama left things in terrible shape.
It's the state's responsibility, not ours.
You're fake news.
I had the best economy in the history of the world, and then we had to shut it down.
After accusing a (female) reporter of asking a "nasty" question, Trump doubles down on Kushner's claim that the federal stockpile is "our" stockpile, as in for use by the federal government and not the states, and therefore should be prioritized for federal use.
Azar is now talking about how uninsured people are actually going to be better off that way, under the WH's new plan to compensate hospitals for covid-19 treatment for the uninsured.

Trump was earlier asked if this would also apply to undocumented people. He would not answer.
Trump says that when Kushner said yesterday that the federal stockpiles were "ours," Kushner meant the country's, and "to the best of [Trump's] knowledge" the states are part of the country.
Trump: "The models show hundreds of thousand of people are going to die. I want very few people relative to what the models are saying."
Trump, whenever a reporter directs a question to an official that's not him:
These briefings are pointless because we already know 99% of what Trump's responses will be, and the 1% of responses that are surprising do nothing but increase the levels of existential despair:
This is the sixth time that Pence has heard Trump make this "joke," minimum.
