Philosophy is often mocked by people in tech. But I like philosophy. Everything of value I've ever done falls squarely under the label "philosophy". Philosophy is potent, actionable, and practical like nothing else.
The purpose of philosophy isn't really to produce concrete theories (which are generally flawed products of their time), or to give you useful "life tips". Philosophy isn't science or engineering.

The main purpose of philosophy is to provide you with building blocks for thinking
The value of reading philosophy lies not in the names & theories you will be able to recall, but in the way they expand your future thoughts.

Just like how the value of learning to code isn't in the toy programs you write in the process, but in the new way of thinking you gained
So it isn't very relevant to point out that philosophers X or Y were "wrong". I'm sure they were; we all are. But perhaps they were interesting. Can your rebuttal teach me as much as their flawed ideas did?
