On March 30, China urged European countries not to “politicize” concerns about the quality of medical supplies from China. “Problems should be properly solved based on facts, not political interpretations,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.
On April 1, the Chinese government reversed course and announced that it was increasing its oversight of exports of coronavirus test kits made in China.
Chinese exporters of coronavirus tests must now obtain a certificate from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in order to be cleared by China’s customs agency.
Meanwhile, the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei announced that it would stop donating masks to European countries as a result of allegedly derogatory comments by the EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell.

“As of Saturday, 107 of Cook County’s 183 deaths from COVID-19 were black. In Chicago, 61 of the 86 recorded deaths – or 70% – were black residents. Blacks make up 29% of Chicago’s population.
The MAJORITY of the black COVID-19 patients who died had underlying health conditions including respiratory problems and diabetes. Eighty-one percent of them had hypertension, or high blood pressure, diabetes or both.”

Mike Ryan, head of health emergencies at the @WHO urged countries to step up efforts to FIND and ISOLATE patients. “It won’t go down by itself. We need countries to focus on what is the strategy.”
“Due to lockdown, most of the transmission that’s actually happening in many countries now is happening in the household,” Ryan said.

“Now we need to go and look in families and find those people that may be sick and remove them and isolate them in a safe and dignified manner.”

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Monday ruled that Gov. Tony Evers (D) cannot delay the state’s presidential primary scheduled for Tuesday over fears of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 4-2 court ruling overturned Evers’s emergency order issued earlier Monday calling for the primary to be postponed, after Wisconsin Republicans filed a lawsuit challenging it.
