The best analogy I can think of for the relationship between the White House press corps and Donald Trump is that of an abused spouse Who keeps coming back for more abuse, caught in the thrall of a sociopath, feeling unworthy to challenge. He abuses, they fall in line. 1/
When he dismisses a question or questioner with abuse and disdain, The others fall in line and bow down. Almost never follow by asking the dismissed question again. And come back again and again to cover his phony press conferences that give him hours of free campaign time. 2/
Tonight’s was the most cringe worthy. Knowing the Joe Biden was doing a Townhall at seven, the Trump PR team he still scheduled their conference for the same our despite having nothing to say. And the cable news networks still pathetically covered Trump. 3/
When he refused to let Fauci answer a question, no reporters stepped up to do what a genuinely independent free press united to find the truth would do: ask the question again and again. Most frustrating is these “enemies of the people” are digging the grave of a free press.
