I am watching a really interesting debate on the Senate floor with Dick Durbin and Ben Sasse. Sasse is trying to praise healthcare workers wnile he is sliming them And showing a complete misunderstanding of the unemployment insurance process. If these people voluntarily quit 1/
They are not eligible for unemployment insurance. Sasse and now Ted Cruz (surprise) Are basically saying people are so selfish that they will find a way to be fired, because they can’t simply quit, to get a few bucks to sit at home, drink beer and watch TV. 2/
These are the same Republicans who slammed Democrats for trying to get some constraints and oversight on the CEOs who were going to get a fortune from the Mnuchin slush fund, The same CEOs they gave billions of taxpayer money in their tax cut who used the money to buy back stock
So they could make more from there stock options and use higher stock prices to get more bonuses and pay. With no constraints, they used trace elements of these tax cuts for investment and research. They love to pay off their fat cat donors and friends 4/
But demand, even in difficult times, onerous work requirements for food stamp recipients and don’t want to give a safety net to people thrown out of employment because of the pandemic.
