The government has the tightest grip on our civil liberties it's ever had. We have to trust that what they're doing is necessary and they won't take advantage of a crisis to erode our human rights long term.
That's why with Dominic Raab as acting PM, we ALL must be very vigilant.
I'll let him defend his comments first, then move on to his voting record.
He says he believes strongly in civil liberties, but that economic and social rights shouldn't be legally enforceable.
The whole point of human rights is to protect people from abusive/cruel governments.
That's why Human Rights are best at the international level, so basic rights don't go on the chopping block every 5 yrs.
The Human Rights Act & EU Charter of Fundamental Rights are examples of international human rights standards.
Raab voted against both.

I would be guilty of letting my privilege cloud my judgement if I said Dominic Raab's record on the welfare state / benefits shouldn't worry us as much because Rishi Sunak seems to be doing his own thing, so it's important you know that it is terrible.
