In response to a press inquiry, FDNY spokesman Frank Dwyer shares this info about daily ems call volume at "unprecedented highs" right now.

"Normally, we would avg around 4000 calls day," he notes, reporting a 50% increase in volume.

The @FDNY account shares call #-s daily.
More FDNY statistics about the average call volume and response time between March 2019 and March 2020.
FDNY shares detailed EMS incident data on NYC's Open Data portal, but for understandable reason, the last update was from before the first confirmed case of Covid-19 here.

Those in charge of updates are "heavily involved" in frontline ops, he notes.

A Long Island field hospital's contractor in Rep. Lee Zeldin's district got a $50 million award, nearly $20M more than the Javits Center.

A @CREWcrew rep told me that raises a question whether the biggest contracts are awarded by task force ties.

Some background:

At an April 5 briefing, Trump gave Zeldin, a top ally on the congressional task force, a shout-out in sending 200,000 N95 masks at his requests.

Local press reported he has a direct line to Jared Kushner, who runs what has been dubbed a "shadow" task force.
"And at the request of Congressman Lee Zeldin, out in Long Island, we will also be delivering another 200,000 N95 masks to Suffolk County, where they need it very badly," Trump said on April 5. whitehouse.gov/briefings-stat…

Zeldin's rep did not respond to a request for comment.

NEW: The trial of Rudy Giuliani's ex-associates Lev Parnas, Igor Fruman, and two other men has been postponed until Feb. 1, 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was originally slated for Oct. 5 this year.
Prosecutors requested the delay in part because issues "involving the availability of witnesses and grand jurors given the pandemic-related travel and social-distancing restrictions" pushed back the government's superseding indictment.
So a criminal case that has embarrassed President Trump, and figured prominently in his impeachment, has been postponed until well after Election Day, because of pandemic-induced delays.

So has much of the pretrial activity.

On the subject of testing, DHS reported two big contracts for Covid-19 tests from South Korean medical suppliers.

Osang Healthcare: $3 million. (unknown #)

SD Biosensor Inc: $5.2 million. (3,000 test kits)

Both of these contracts were awarded last week.

Generally speaking, contracting databases tend to be more illuminating on details of how much equipment for how much money than the briefings.
HHS has not yet responded to a request for comment on how many tests are in these contracts and how they will be distributed.

This is just a data point, with a fuller picture coming as my research progresses.
