Thread alert (1/7): Since April 1st, I have decided to walk my dog Charlie in a different costume every day.

Two questions have come my way:

1. Why do you have so many costumes?
2. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? Normally followed by WEIRDO.

The WHY is the important part.

Why? Because it makes people smile or laugh. Why? Because it's ridiculous. Why? Because in this weird crazy quarantine world, we all could use a smile or a laugh or a distraction from all of this.

Why? Because I am not a nurse, a doctor, or someone working in a hospital putting the health of myself or my family at risk to save yours. Why? Because I am not someone working at the grocery or drug store so that you or your family have the food/medicine they need.

Why? Because I am not someone who is trying to keep my small business open, risking my health so we can serve food to those who are in need while also trying to keep my staff with paid.

Why? Because I am not someone who is risking their health so that deliveries can be delivered to those who cannot risk going to the store on their own.

Why? Because we're all in this together. No matter your role, large or small. We're all struggling, we are all battling, we are all anxious and scared. It's hard to smile and laugh right now, but maybe just maybe, I was able to do that for someone today and that is the WHY

Yesterday, while wearing Mrs. Potts, I saw many smiles, and someone yelled thank you I need to laugh. The highlight though, an elderly woman (standing about 8 feet away) sang “I’m a little teapot” to me in Rittenhouse Square. It made my day and hopefully hers
