ALL the cases cited by people on Twitter so far to justify a hostile military posture against Russia + China involve issues
a. in which it would be catastrophic for the UK to intervene militarily (eg Crimea)
or
b. force of arms can do nothing to resolve (eg human rights issues)
There is plenty bad that the Russian and Chinese governments do. But not one of those things can be addressed by, for example, the UK's F35 joint strike fighters, without making things much, much worse.
In other words, we are spending £40 billion a year on useless toys, while neglecting the urgent imperative to resolve existential global threats through international cooperation, above all climate breakdown.
