And even those who keep their insurance are going to see it degrade as employers rush to save money by raising premiums and deductibles, and narrowing networks, as they've been doing even in good economic times. 
This is a crisis. But it is also, perhaps, an opportunity to solve the foundational mistake of America's health policy system: typing health insurance to employment.
Biden's plan backstops the current system, rather than building beyond it. His team is worried about destabilizing the employer-based market. So they don't let employers buy into their public option, or employees use their employer contribution to buy into the public option.
Coronavirus is going to destabilize that market either way. Biden needs to think bigger.
