Kenyans

We have to understand that this government doesnt have any policy in mind apart from tourism and real estate. And in 1961, Frantz Fanon warned us that the evidence of the intellectual bankruptcy of our elites is their obsession with the relaxation of wazungu.
To focus on the relaxation of foreigners and the dollars they will bring, the native elites behave as if we Africans don't exist. Whether we're being murdered, we're getting sick, the job of GoK is to put a front to the rest of the world that Kenya is open for dollars.
In 2008 during PEV, the government and the media was not worried about Kenyans being killed; it was worried that tourists might see us fighting and think we're n---'s like other African countries. When PEV ended, Kibaki's first job was to wash Kenya's reputation for tourists.
To do that, he hired a South African PR firm to basically make Kenyan people as invisible as possible to investors. #magicalkenya theelephant.info/features/2018/…
Then in 2015, together with World Bank, the Gates Foundation and other private investors, GoK started destroying our healthcare by frustrating our doctors in public hospitals. For business people, we Africans don't need trained doctors. We need clincical officers and vaccines.
Just like those racist scientists who think we are a testing lab, these business people think we Africans are too unworthy to be treated by doctors. Doctors are for money, our health is less valuable than $$$ which doctors can bring by treating tourists. trademarkea.com/news/ktb-to-ma…
So while your government is committing doctors to tourists, ordinary people who are cancer patients and can't afford 700 bob are forced to die an excruciating death. Remember #savingEsther, and imagine if you were Esther or her sister.
And if you still have a heart to empathize with them (because these days I think Kenyans are too traumatized to be bothered), imagine how you would have felt knowing that the oncologist who could have treated you is at home waiting for a hotel to open at @KNH_hospital
But these GoK people don't care. They know only two things: land and tourists. So they've now sold of @KNH_hospital. Some guys call it a private hospital to raise money for the public one, but really it's about tourists and stealing the market from Nairobi hospital next door.
When they saw the land near the Traffic Police, they calculated not the Kenyans who could be treated but the billions in the land price. Then they got @IEAKenya to cook up some story in githeri media to justify the theft.
Now Kenyans have gotten used to government announcing money when it can't solve problems. That's why we get seduced by the idea that raising money will improve services. But this thread explains why money doesnt automatically solve public problems.
That's health. Let's come to emergency services. Keep in mind that we have a terrible #covid_19 emergency response because Kenya has destroyed its healthcare. Our savior would have been @RedCross, but you know what happened.

Tourism happened. Again. kenyanbusinessfeed.com/kenya-red-cros…
But this is how people get trapped when running successful social concern.

The bank and some sharks say: "This is too much money sitting in the bank waiting for a disaster. Start a business with it and make money to helping people, and make some extra for SOME people."
But the sharks don't tell you that the business comes with other commitments. Hiring staff. Advertising. Marketing. Managing the business so that it runs well. And some of the profit needs to go back into the business.
Once you commit, you have to finish the project. But money runs out, and soon money that should have gone to helping people goes into maintaining the monstrosities you built. You are no longer doing the work you ask people to contribute to.

And then people stop donating.
So now, let's go to the next tourism project. @kwskenya.

Ideally, KWS is supposed to be protecting our land and biodiversity. But instead of investing in research and conservation, they are now grabbing Nairobi National Park to build a hotel. nation.co.ke/news/KWS-in-pl…
Let's talk about the Nairobi Metropolitan, probably the biggest land grab by Muigai since colonial rule.

66% of Kenyans in Nairobi are squashed in 6% of the land. 94% is under concrete and breathing space for the 8,300 Kenyans who own more than us, and the wazungu in Gigiri.
There are barely any parks left for people to sit, barely any social halls. If you went to Uhuru Park on a Sunday during pre-covid, you would have thought you were at Nairobi show. Nairobians have no space to breath, and that is not an exaggeration.
Nairobi National park is the last space of its kind in the metropolitan land grab. It cleans the air Nairobians breathe, and maintains the animals our ancestors told us stories about. Kids go there on school trips.

But that fellow called Leakey hived it off for the bypass.
But more than that, KWS doesn't know what is scientifically in Kenya's interests, because it's busy thinking of tourists. Remember we lost 11 rhinos at one go in the name of fulfilling @WWF's wet dream of grabbing the Tsavo. How did that happen? bbc.com/news/world-afr…
.@kwskenya is not run by scientists but business people, @tunajibu included. Guys can't tell what rhinos need, what relocation means. And then after the whole thing backfired so spectacularly, they crucified the vet officers who had cautioned against it. #magicalkenya
Here's another @kwskenya story that will make you mad.

A few years ago, KWS gleefully handed over patent and marketing rights of Kenyan micro-organisms to Novozyme, in return for one-off payment for Kenyan researchers in kind, namely in terms of facilities and training.
KWS belatedly realized it was a rip off. It took the case to international court, relied on pro-bono American lawyers (anyone would have told you it was a trap). Kenya was compensated a mere 2.3m out of millions of $$$ made by the company profiting from Kenya’s microbes.
Basically, @kwskenya doesn't know jack about our wildlife and biodiversity. They only know hotels and wazungu. They will sell our rich and previous biodiversity for concrete and stone, and the land on which it sits.

Kenyans, this loss isn't worth all the dollars in the world.
Maybe @DavidNdii could tell us more, but my hunch is that GoK is broke, and foreigners have Muigai by the ***** and are telling him that our healthcare, our wildlife, our land and our people are worth more to him than any debt we could ever pay back.
We are here is because, as @JerotichSeii told us, our elites are too shortsighted to see the long term plan of the people still with us.

I want to say we should oppose this hotel, but I know we wont, and @kwskenya will build it anyway unless wazungus abroad question it.
