Debuting in Yakuza 4, Akiyama became CEO of his own loan company and hostess club, Sky Finance and Elise. Shun Akiyama earned a reputation as "The Lifeline of Kamurocho" by taking on customers who would be turned away by regular loan companies. (2/9)
But instead of examining their finances, Akiyama puts his customers through a series of unique tests in an effort to test their resolve more than their pocketbooks. Perhaps due to his colorful past, he keeps his appearance unassuming. (3/9)
Akiyama lets Hana, his employee, run the day-to-day business, preferring to leave the office or take midday naps as he pleases. He's the archetype of a man who goes his own way. (4/9)
Throughout his appearances, Akiyama consistently fights with a heavy reliance on high-kicks. The style greatly resembles Taekwondo, but according to Akiyama himself, his fighting style isn't based on any particular pre-existing martial art. (5/9)
Akiyama is voiced by Kōichi Yamadera, who has a lot of voice roles under his belt. He is known as the voice of several iconic anime characters such as Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop), Tosuga (Ghost of the Shell), and Beerus (Dragon Ball Super.) (6/9)
