No, the BBC is not leading with the fact that the Government's mismanagement of this crisis will lead to thousands of unnecessary deaths - nor that thousands of doctors still don't have protective clothing - but with what that nice Mr Johnson's Dad says. 
A news organisation that fails to scrutinise Govt fails its audience. A news organisation that is totally dominant, as the BBC is, also squeezes out others' opportunity to scrutinise. That's an open invitation, especially to a Govt with a huge majority, to really poor governance.
I still remember my last appearance on Radio 4 when I was attacked for being "outspoken" and invited to change my ways. The BBC seems to have forgotten that its job is to speak truth to power - not to try and bully those stepping into the breach it has left.
