We’re very close to half a million confirmed cases. Which means: almost 1 out of every 5 tests has come back positive.

Testing capacity appears to have plateaued again, and yet we're not seeing declining positive rates. We're still nowhere close to having a true sense of the scale of the outbreak.

One revealing cut of the data is the ratio of deaths to confirmed cases. This generates a list that's a mix of known hot spots and those that are still flying under the radar.
