The tendency for China under Xi has been to open up its cards pretty early. It dumped hide & bide & got confrontational with the US & countries in I-P incl India.Opened up early with Wuhandemic raging to show its geopolitical play. No amount of PR will help. In fact,it worsens it
So for all the long term thinking that China gets credit for, Xi gets quite rattled just for image. All Trump had to do was call it ChinaVirus & Xi lost it. His man Lijian opened up. Chinese embassy in India issued a statement against Indians using China/Wuhan virus
Earlier on, the image problem led to them to warning countries to no impose travel restrictions. It didnt allow India permission to evac its people before finally relenting. And it didnt acknowledge India's token relief supply.
