Yesterday, as I looked at a photo of our governor, standing next to his new dog in jeans, a sweatshirt, and socks, I realized how much I miss having a normal human capable of showing empathy and vulnerability in the White House.
Sorry for the punctuation—the dog obviously wasn’t wearing clothes. Anyway, I’m just sad. People are so scared and need for someone to credibly say, “I know you’re scared. I’m scared too. And here’s what I’m doing each and every day for us to have the best possible outcome.”
“Every day, I’m going to tell you what we’re doing, and why. It won’t always be perfect. Mistakes will be made, and the science and facts are always evolving. But we’ve put together the best team that we can. We are all in this together.”
To be clear, our governor is doing all of this. I just wish it were coming from the White House too. It *should* be coming from the White House. I’m so sad that it isn’t. The WH press conferences are just so draining and abusive.
I say abusive because they have all the marks of an abuser: gaslighting, belittlement, picking fights, lashing out, mocking people’s pain, making it all about him. I’m sick of this abuse. He has to go. In November, he has to go.
