If you are familiar with Russian botfarms , then you should know how damaging they are. This form of information warfare was started by the United States and nowhere is it more evident than Latin America its primary target. Almost a century of destabilisation & propaganda.
Currently, the United States botfarms are targeting the populations of Venezuela, Iran, Mexico, UK, Cuba, Canada, France, Germany, (the U.S.), and various other countries it deems to be against current U.S. interests. Many of these overlap with Russia's botfarm goals.
The goal of a botfarm for those who have been living under a rock is to present disinformation and misinformation to the general public with the intent to disrupt target governments, seed dissent, and to create confusing or malicious narratives during times of crisis.
Botfarms and info agents (human shitposters) are also used to discredit activists, official info, and to muddle necessary information. For example, pretending that COVID19 is just the flu, only affects the young, or that x amount of the population should die 'for the economy'.
We believe that the US and Russia are currently attempting to discredit health officials in other countries to create civil unrest and political dissent by pushing against reliable COVID19 information and advice. This encourages people to disobey and become infected and die.
Another method of disruption taken by these botfarms is to fabricate stories and information that paints COVID19 as being absurdly mishandled by a government or created in a lab by [insert target government], to create a sense of panic and paranoia and most importantly distrust.
For many of us on twitter, especially those who follow this account, we are less likely to fall for a State botfarm because a good portion of this website is competing botfarms on any topic and very easy to spot if you know how, which makes this place a perfect learning ground.
However most of the online world exists outside of Twitter, and there are probably more or less 40 active users that follow this account and only about a dozen might be smart enough to keep up with what we are saying on any given day. Which doesn't look good for the world.
