Unlike people in the West who demand higher salaries for getting work done, Indians did and still do the same work for much less.
This was why many Indians got jobs starting in the 20th century. Most are from Kerala.

Educated Indians could get by with far less so the Arabs gave them more money. You can compare what Indians earn in the Middle East and what they earn in the West. Comparable but there are other aspects.

4/10 More than earning, the zero income tax policy adopted by Gulf Arab Sheikdoms helped Indians save a lot of money. Plus many of those who worked in the oil industry and elsewhere were provided accommodation by companies. This saved them money.

5/10 Compare this to countries like the USA and Australia. I remember paying more than $2,000 per month for rent in Sydney. This is apart from taxes you must pay the governments. Same is the story in the states of California and New York in the USA.

People from the Philippines, the Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, etc., will do a great job for lesser money than Indians. If Gulf authorities can't handle Indians, they can simply refer to these nations for the same work.

Oil prices. They don't look good at least in the short run. But the renewable energy gravy train is running out of time (see Australia) so oil prices might bounce back.... unless the world discovers the benefits of nuclear energy like France.

9/10 Automation: Many jobs done by humans today will be replaced in the near future by machines/robots leading to more job losses for Indians especially in the entry skill section. Rapid scaling up is necessary but the BJP regime seems more interested in religious wars.
