I have lupus. I haven't spoken publicly about it before now. But then coronavirus hit, killing black people at alarming rates & Trump unnecessarily put lupus patients—disproportionately black women—at higher risk. So I wrote this for @TheAtlantic. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
Today is the start of #LupusAwarenessMonth. So, while the media has moved on, this is a reminder that Fox & friend, Trump, touted an unproven drug to fight coronavirus over 1,400 times during a one-month period. It was irresponsible & dangerous...
Trump unnecessarily caused a run on hydroxychloroquine, stockpiled nearly 30 million doses of it, and created a shortage of the primary drug lupus patients like Amiee take to stabilize the disease and live their lives.

Meanwhile, studies have validated doctors’ initial concerns about hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19...the CIA, NIH & FDA have issued warnings about its use...people have died...and now, Trump doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.
