Buying a business at the outset of an economic downturn is a testament to the entrepreneurial drive within a person. Being public about it from day one and motivating your peers to help you on the journey is a testament to the dynamics of our community.
The business in question is a critical-problem-solving focused-on-one-thing-only SaaS that can easily be "niched" up or down, depending on where Steve wants to take it (read: which niche audience he wants to serve primarily).
