The infection/fatality data Trump and others are touting as a reason to "re-open the economy" was achieved EXCLUSIVELY because of the very social-distancing policies they want to end. Folks—there's no vaccine for this. If you like the data you're seeing, social distancing did it.
PS/ The ONLY exception to the above is that you can temporarily lift some social-distancing guidelines in certain places IF (ONLY IF) you also have widespread testing, contact tracing, stay-at-home orders for most folks, and more. Trump and his pals can't say we have ANY of that.
PS2/ It's infuriating to watch people credit for us "getting over the hump" the very policies that these same people now want to end. It's like an endless logic loop; it's nonsensical. We know what we have to do to fully "re-open," and we are doing precisely NONE of it right now.
PS3/ What Trump and his pals are saying is as stupid as this:
"Now that I'm in great shape, I can stop working out."
