CDC data now matches China data saying that smokers are hospitalized for CV19 at much lower rates than non-smokers.

This is the sort of unusual result that typically makes people spiral off into all sorts of silly conclusions, depending on what political axe they feel like grinding.
What I want to know is: upon exposure to CV19 or presentation of mild symptoms, would a temporary course of smoking (or vaping or nicotine patch usage) be on balance more beneficial for overall health assuming cessation after the disease passes?
