Here, the @WHO DG admits total lockdown is impractical for poor countries & every govt must assess their COVID situation to develop unique solution. Eg Sweden didn’t do a total lockdown yet has low penetration. But Ajani from Akute has been insulting me for saying this for days.
While lockdown is effective at curbing the spread, the results in Nigeria are clear - more deaths have been recorded from lockdown related issues than COVID. But more importantly, lockdown can’t be effective when you aren’t testing massively. People spreading w/o knowing.
Eg Igando general hospital, Ilorin, etc. Besides, it is counterproductive to lockdown & be lax on security, so people can’t go to work, but gather en masse to protect themselves. When Mass gatherings & hospitals have been seen to be the biggest cause of spread. It’s just crazy.
