Because 12 reasons
1. Democracy is about choices. Only in Nigeria does democracy function as autocracy & elites find it to be decent rather than fight
2. I’m able to separate my views from my comfort zone & see the brutalization of micro businesses/transporters by violent thugs 3. The pseudo accountability & citizen engagement that has happened over the past 1week shows what is possible if only govt know that they are accountable to citizens & they can be removed by the ballot
4. @GRVlagos is competent. To say GRV is not qualified is like saying

FIVE Reasons why I will NEVER vote Peter Obi in 2023.

1. I am a Yoruba man. I will rather vote Yoruba than Igbo
2. Tinubu fixed Lagos
3. Peter Obi is IPOB
4. Peter Obi cannot win
5. Peter Obi’s supporters are toxic and abusive.

Let me explain. A little bit of a long Thread 1. I am a Yoruba man. I will rather vote a Yoruba man than an Igbo man.

Except that I lived along Lagos-Abeokuta expressway when Obasanjo was president, and he lived in Ota, along the same road, and it was amongst the worst in the country despite my neighbor being president

PDP deserves all the votes they will lose in 2023 cos of Peter Obi. Obama in 2004 ran for senate & didnt see a near hope of being President. He turned star after Democratic Party leaders penciled him for the DNC address in 2004 & then marked him as a presidential material! Thread The US was in a recession, survived 9/11 & generally was tired of the Republicans. The Democratic Party Leaders put aside their selfish interest to look out for a rising star who could deliver & reignite a message of hope in Americans that will lead to victory & got the result.

I’ve gotten lots of DMs from friends & followers about my thoughts on MTN’s new shares listing and what it means for a novice investor. Follow this thread closely on what the MTN offering is about in layman’s language to help you decide if buying is a good choice for you. Thread When people reach out to me this way, it dawns on me the responsibility some of us have to constantly share knowledge that can help others build wealth.

Why should anyone buy this shares or should you buy?
What's the implication for your money?

Fashola is building a few thousand units of N7million houses and calling it affordable in a country where less than 5% earn up to N3million per annum, and housing deficit is over 22million. The disconnect from reality in our governance is so wide that it only has to be ment. Responses here show that we may never solve the social problems facing majority of Nigerians- so far as we keep using our personal socioeconomic status to assess the majority. Govt is about IMPACT- you can’t solve a problem by excluding the majority of the victims of the problem.

When we started #LagosSMEbootcamp in 2018, we didn’t know we will come this far, we initially planned to just do something small for 40 SMEs, then ended up with 100. 4yrs & 6events later, we’ve supported 4,500 SMEs & a vibrant @LagoSMEbootCamp community. Season 4 is here. Thread Year on year, we’ve gotten bigger & better. The fulfillment comes from personalized feedback from members of our community. Limta from Ekiti that used our support funds to register his business, to TJL from Ibadan who said we helped her expand online. The testimonies are endless.

Unpopular Opinion: Lagos & Rivers VAT collection laws will not solve the injustice/problem that we seek to eliminate, but may create more problems, complexities & further complicate the ease of doing business. VAT problem is a distribution issue, not a collection issue. Thread What do I mean? VAT as currently administered in Nigeria is collected solely by FIRS & distributed amongst the 3tiers - 15% FG, 50% states & 35% to LGAs. Now out of total VAT generated, half is generated from VAT on foreign transactions, while about 65% of local is from Lagos.

It is unfortunate that the US is conniving with mischief makers& #EndSARS hoodlums to set up Nigeria’s most celebrated Policeman with fake allegations. The Buhari regime will deal ruthlessly with all those behind this attempt to embarrass the Nigerian Police & Pres Buhari. Thread We have also seen that many members of IPOB & those behind the #EndSARS violence have already latched to this fake news to propagate lies and sabotage the effort of this govt to fight against corruption and arrest those threatening the continued unity of the country.

We can condemn unfair treatment from Landlords without denying hard truths. Landlords don’t just turn down singles for nothing. Lagos is full of flats that started with one single girl & then fiam! 40girls in one bedroom doing olosho. Same way loud yahoo boys bombard flats.Thread If you also own a property, you’ll want to take precautions, except Ofcourse you’re also a reckless landlord & don’t care. I’ve had single Neigbours turn a decent apartment to a Bronx neighborhood with everyday weed & girls & fighting. In a >2.5m rental house with families & kids

I’ve always argued that not all divorces are failed marriages. Bill and Melinda Gates is one example of that. Their marriage was long, fruitful, and & impactful. Now going apart to seek greater happiness isn’t equal to failure. Divorce is NOT always failure. There are many sides to marriage, If you spend decades with someone, had fruits (kids), raised them to the best you can, made billions, co-founded a foundation that impacted the world, etc, and peacefully separate without violence or bitter animosity, I don’t think it’s failure.

In GEJ era, Nigeria was angry. It was a free for all. The leading opposition weaponised this to ride to power. The election brought hope to many, despite some insisting GMB wasn’t an option. I think it is unfair to accuse the citizens with dashed hopes of unpatriotism. Thread According to Thomas Hobbes’ social contract theory, man is naturally nasty & brutish & life would be short if we all lived without govt. You cant expect everyone to speak same of Nigeria, or even be good people. That’s why the state regulates us within human rights confines.

Few weeks ago, I tweeted a reminder on the importance of health insurance. With less than 18k, you can get covered up to N200k worth of healthcare. Today, I've come to educate you on other insurance options. I'll keep at it till it sticks. #IfYouLoveItInsureIt Follow this Thread You see, it's bad enough that Nigeria as a country is a high-risk country: bad roads, poor security, lax labour laws, weak traffic regulations, etc. You can have a car today & tomorrow your car is gone due to a reckless okada or danfo accident, your house or shop can be burgled..

Lol. I like how this thread combines the truth with funny feel. Money is the biggest enabler of love. Good heart, caring and friendships are all elements that can be easily amplified with money. The only element that can’t be amplified with money is good sex. When I was in my final year, my girlfriend(good babe) then loved me so much, so much that she didn’t dump me when she found another “caring” UK based guy. Instead, she kept me there and dated me along with the guy. Me the low funds guy showing love, high funds guy spending.

I look at young Nigerians from not-so-privileged homes despising those with privilege. You’re short changing & limiting yourself. In life, there will always be those born with privilege, those who grow into it, and those who get it from relationships. Let me explain. Thread Those born with privilege don’t start from ground zero-they attend good schools(quality education), they don’t struggle with physiological needs for their family, they have resources to fund their passion w/o having to labor or save, & ultimately they have strong social currency.

The influence of friends on your self esteem & growth is often under rated. Some years ago, I had a friend who always focused on what was wrong with things I did or wore. My shirt was too big, my punctuation insufficient, etc. I began to unconsciously second guess myself. Thread I used him as a learning pad for mastering the art of shutting up people who habitually offered unsolicited & uncomplimentary remarks. Cutting him off helped change many things. On one’s growth journey, the content you take in about you, even from childhood, impact your psyche.

An Open Letter to Mr. President, @MBuhari from a Patriotic Citizen.

Dear Mr. President ,

I saw this @SaharaReporters news and thought to pen this heartfelt letter to you, as a very concerned working class Nigerian youth who loves and lives in Nigeria.

We are troubled.

Thread. First, I hope in my heart that that @SaharaReporters news in untrue. I hope the true story is that these people died in a boat crash. Because now, Nigeria is at an all time low.

Our youths no longer appeal for power or education or healthcare, we are now begging to stay alive.

A few months ago, I shared my story on how we could have been rendered homeless months after my Dad died and our landlord kicked us out, insisting he wasn't renting to a widow. Recently, I met with some young folks who get confused about real estate vs investment options. Thread I was 16. But that experience influenced the lenses through which I see real estate from the perspectives of an African child from a modest background. Another was the crisis in the early 2000s, where many lost their jobs & many of my friends were kicked out of their rented homes

Please, I beg you, make sure you are comfortable enough to eject all forms of poverty MENTALITY before you date or get married, so you won't have to be arguing over silly things like washing of pant. Laundry has evolved beyond literal washing. And anyone, man or woman, can do it. Having said that, nothing justifies washing pant on national TV. And its not about a man doing it. Nothing even justifies washing your own underwear publicly on nationalTV. Neither should it be a focus of public discussion. They are underwears. Somethings are better left private.

While I’ve written about the imbalance/problems in corporate Nigeria between Nigerians & foreigners, we need to understand that our market realities simply can’t afford the same pay levels as is some in the West. Many companies that tried it reversed it on the brink of failure. Image Many factors impact pay. What salaries can accommodate in the middle of other costs(electricity, infrastructure, security, bribery etc), another is what the market can generate, another is what the country encourages through lax labor laws. You can’t look at one in isolation.

I saw 4 missed calls from a close relative who rarely calls. I got very anxious immediately, almost panicky. Then I remember a debate sometime ago about phone calls causing anxiety. I think it takes a degree of heartlessness to not have anxiety panics regularly in Nigeria. Thread I think it's a function of societal anomalies. Too many risks& fears. I also believe very strongly that the average Nigerian is prone to anxiety disorders (though I don't have the data), except if there are a few things or few people you care about. Let me explain.

If you are a fresh grad looking to join KPMG or any Big4, don’t let the N130k salary bant discourage you o. KPMG & all are called academy organizations. They give rigorous training & the fastest career path to rise. The leverage it gives your CV will/can change your life forever. Many talk about KPMG, etc entry level pay being poor. What they forget is that the entry salary is not poorer than most of the banks. And no other place guarantees annual career growth like them. Laugh at KPMG today, 5yrs later, your KPMG junior will be poached as your boss.
