.@GovofCO toured the field hospital being built in Loveland this afternoon. Now that I got the video of his media gaggle to download, I've been able to get more specific numbers of how much capacity has been reduced. #9news #HeyNext 1/4
The Loveland field hospital at the Ranch, has a potential capacity of 1,600 beds. Polis said the state will build 400-600 there. The Convention Center in Denver's capacity is 2,000, Polis says the state will build 500-600 there. Few dozen in Grand Junction. 2/4
“In the Denver Metro, North Metro Area, having 1,000-1,500 beds will give us more confidence in knowing that if we go to work and if we’re trying to go back to normalcy and the virus grows faster than we think… then it won’t outgrow our actual capacity here,” Polis said. 3/4
As for ventilators, Polis says the state, having increased its supply by 500-600, has what it needs now. 4/4
CORRECTION TO ABOVE: I incorrectly reported a number. The original capacity of Loveland was 1,060, not 1,600. I regret the error.
