From a Doc buddy here in the west: Seeing increased patient volumes. We have admitted 8 ICU patients since i left this morning at 7a. Old people who have not been seen in awhile. Cancers that haven’t been worked up. And then COVID19 patients. They are scary.
Many are old and have medical problems. But we have young people too. They look like they are drowning. Amazing how well prone positioning works. We’ve done for years for patients on a ventilator but now asking people to live on their stomachs.
I trust my team and my PPE. Because we’ve flattened the curve we’ve had time to prepare. If this all came at once we’d be floundering.
