Work on smaller chunks of work and you'll be amazed at what happens in your team (thread 👇)
1. You don't have to plan out as much. You'll quickly see the reality that we tend to plan WAY too far out. It's not that long-term planning is bad. We just do it in far too much detail and forget that most of it is just a guess.

A general sense of long-term is sufficient.
2. Working on a small chunk makes it easier to understand what work needs to be done and how long it will take. Smaller chunks make the invisible visible. This cuts down on waste that occurs when you learn something new and adjust.
3. When you'll be working on a small chunk it's easier to spend time thinking about which chunk is most critical right now vs jumping into because "it's all going to get done".
4/ Example:

Big chunk: Write a book
Medium chunk: Write a chapter
Small chunk: Write an outline for 1 chapter

The smaller the chunk, the easier it is to complete, and you can learn and adjust as you go vs pretending you know it all to start.
5/ So much work hides in big chunks.
6/ This doesn't mean everything can be broken down into tiny pieces, and it doesn't mean you shouldn't plan long term. But when building something new and unknown, large chunks are death. You waste time, money, and energy trying to plan everything from the start.
7/ The next right thing is often the most important thing to figure out.

What's the next experiment we can run to get our desired outcome?
