Here's my old mate @MrJohnNicolson lecturing LGB people about our rights. When we were fighting for gay rights John was still "straight". He waited until being gay was no longer an obstacle to his career before he came out. His embrace of trans rights is just as shallow.
Presumably he has such a sterling record as a champion of women that he can now feel bold enough to lecture them too about their rights? Except I'm struggling to see anything in his record inside Parliament or outside that would allow him to feel so self-deluded.
I sometimes wonder whether its the sheer narcissism or self-obsession of the trans lobby that appeals to so many gay male politicians like John? Either way their obsession will end up sabotaging the rights for which gay men and lesbians fought so hard when it really mattered.
